2023 Round Up!
The 2023 Durham Fall Fair was an Amazing return after COVID, with a phenomenal turnout in all areas.
Many of our 4H and Horse shows where up 15%-20% in participation. Then Bike rodeo run by the West Grey Police and West Grey Fire saw over 90 Participants – this is over double the number of past years.
The weather held and the Sunday Tractor pull had a record number of pulls. At the End of the Tractor pull our 50/50 Draw was made – the Winner of the 50/50 Draw this year was Mrs Donna (Ray) Clark of Durham.
Our 2023-2024 Durham Fall Fair Senior Ambassador is Braden Bartlett, and our Jr Ambassador is Sophie Manion.
In October our Ambassadors dressed as Dorothy and the Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz, helped hand out candy to over 400 kids in an event hosted by the municipality of West Grey
The next weekend the Ambassadors participated in the District 10 Fall Meeting in Feversham where they had the opportunity to meet, and have fun with other ambassadors from District 10. They went for a tour of Ice River Springs, and did a quilting activity at a local quilt shop. Fun was had by all. Several of our directors attended the meeting as well and learned about activies done a others fairs that we are looking at adding to the Durham Fall Fair.
On the 24th of November we held a “just before Christmas” Bingo Night. There was a lot of cash won and some really nice raffle prizes as well. Our Senior Ambassador did an amazing job as “Vanna” flipping the numbers on our Bingo Board.
The winner of our Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest was Michele Baak and is pictured with Braden and Sophie
The Durham Santa Clause Parade Involved a Really BIG Bear and a lot of fun. The snow the night before was the perfect touch and Christmas in Toy-land was a big hit.
Keep an eye out in future for “Blair” the big bear, he promises to make an appearance again at future events.
